Sports Fair Round Up

Thanks to everyone to helped out at the fair yesterday. We had a great day and spoke to lots of new people. If you were unable to speak to us at the fair, or you have some extra questions, here are a few reminders:
  • We take complete beginners any time of the year and remember your first session is free so you can come and give it a go.
  • There are no teams - everyone is welcome to train as frequently or infrequently as they like.
  • The ideal kit for training is a loose fitting t-shirt and jogging bottoms - nothing to precious and please remove any jewellery!
  • Our club membership is £10 and our mat fees are either £2 per session or £60 for the year (great for enthusiasts).
Our first session of the year is Monday (28/09/09), the session begins at 6pm so please be there a little early to sort out people's details. Don't worry if you cannot make Monday, we also have regular sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us using the link above.

We also have our first social of the year on Saturday 3rd October to welcome all our new members to the club. Hope to see you there :)

Dates for the Calendar

This is a very quick post to let people know about the sports fayres at Cardiff University in September. The fayres are aimed at freshers who are starting their degrees in October. It's a great opportunity to find new members for the club - if you are free on any of the following days please let me or Jen know:
  • Healthcare Fayre - 21/09/09 - (Monday) - Sports and Social Club at the Heath Park Campus
  • AU Fayre - 25/09/09 - (Friday) - Great Hall Students Union
If you've got any ideas for introducing new members to Jiu Jitsu; now is the time to share them! To all our existing students remember we are training on Monday and Wednesday until 23rd September and back to three sessions a week from the 28th.

a few more pictures from the fair

Just a quick post of some pictures of our stall at the AU fair.

After the Fair

The athletic union Fair was yesterday. We had a great time telling new students about our club. If you couldn't make the fair; or you've lost your leaflet in the pub last night, you can print your own: The Cardiff Uni Jitsu Flyer 2008

Some more information:

Your first session is free, so if you are not sure about joining a martial art, or you are not sure which martial art to begin, Jiu Jitsu is a great place to start!

Membership is £5 for the year, and mat fees are £30 for the year; but if you'd rather you can pay £2 a session until you've paid your mat fees :)

Remember, you can start Jiu Jitsu at any time during the year - we don't have trials or teams. So, if you've joined the "Smurf Hunting Society" and realised that its not the sport for you - you can still come and join Jiu Jitsu :)

Here are some of the pictures we had up on the stall:

AU Fair

Just a reminder to everyone the Athletic Union fair is on the 26th of September; it starts at 10am in the Great Hall. Please let someone know if you're planning on popping by to show support! Hope to see some of you there!
If you're a student who is interested in learning Jiu Jitsu, then this is a great time to have a chat and ask any questions you might have.

The first session of training begins on Monday 29th September at 18:00 in Talybont sports centre.

AU Sports Fair

The Cardiff University Sports Fair is on Friday 26th September 2008, in the Great Hall of Cardiff's Student Union. Put it in your diaries now!

This is the first event of the academic year so: it will be a great chance to catch up with people who have been away over the summer and it's the best opportunity to recruit new members to join the club. Hope to see you there!

If any one has any ideas about how to advertise or introduce new people to Jiu Jitsu then now is the time to 'throw' us your ideas!
